A.J. is a Utah native. He earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science in 2016, his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (Robotics Track) in 2019, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Robotics Track), all at the University of Utah. He earned his Ph.D. working under Dr. Jake Abbott. His research involved magnetic manipulation of untethered robotic tools with application in magnetic guided capsule endoscopy and magnetic steerable needles. After leaving the U, he joined Sarcos.
